Is it ok to give squares of toast with vegemite...

Is it ok to give squares of toast with vegemite to a 6mth old? no crusts obviously but is he too young? he sucks on arrowroot cookies and rusks. he is teething but yet to cut any. how old till toast and sandwiches are ok for them to suck on
